My panel ‘Female Power’ at the University of Passau
I am VERY HONORED to have taken the stage at the Top event: Science meets practice of the University of Passau
to deliver my panel ‘Female Power in and out of the University of Passau’,
highlighting what I have taken with me for my career from my alma mater.
The top four takeaways from my Top event panel about diversity and inclusion, women in leadership and female leadership are
- Equality in the workplace. Women continue to be severely underrepresented in top management positions: 15 percent women on the management boards and 35 percent on supervisory boards. This shows the need for action in Germany.
- Women in leadership. Supportive measures are needed on the part of policymakers and the companies themselves, as well as a change in society’s awareness and role: compatibility of work and family, new leadership culture, new female and male role models.
- Female leadership. Studies show that it is actually women who have what it takes to effectively lead. So, rather than advising female executives to act more like men to get ahead, society would be better served by more male leaders trying to emulate women.
- Call to action. Research confirmes that diverse teams have a positive impact on business success and share price. Investors see the importance of diversity for good corporate governance. So executive management must align with diversity as ‘tone from the top’.
I would also like to give shoutout to my fellow panelists — Thank you!
