Web Summit 2020
The Web Summit 2020 was a blast,
with three days packed with talks, networking, workshops and roundtables to redefine the global tech industry.
Here’s my rundown of the three key takeaways from Web Summit virtually from Lisbon:
(1) “I am a tech optimist. I believe that science and technology have the power to make our lives better” said President of European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, speaking about technology and how it can save lives
(2) The founder of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee discussed how people’s perception of the web has changed over the past 15 years, with the increase in misinformation and ‘fake news’
(3) Dr Jane Goodall from The Jane Goodall Institute on whether tech can save the planet: “Technology — the human intellect — is one of my reasons for hope. Young people, who understand the problem and are empowered to take action as it roots and toots, [are] another reason for hope”
I would also like to give a shoutout to all of the who’s who of CXOs and founders who I have met — Thank you!
